Embedding Sequel with Wordpress

In just a few steps, you can embed our Virtual Stage and Networking Hub straight onto your Wordpress website!

Updated over 2 months ago

The Sequel.io Wordpress Plug-in must be installed when embedding on Wordpress.

Wordpress Plug-In

The Sequel.io Wordpress Plug-in allows you to embed via shortcode and leverage your Wordpress User accounts (via Ultimate Member) to send user information to the Sequel.io components. To add the plug-in to your Wordpress site follow these steps.

  1. Download the Sequel Plug-In to your computer here.

  2. Log in to the Admin page of your WordPress site and go to Plugins on the left-hand menu

  3. Select Upload in the top-right corner

  4. Upload the zip file you downloaded in Step 1

  5. Once the plug in is successfully uploaded, go to Plugins> Installed Plugins and assure it is Activated

Now you're ready to begin embedding Sequel.io on your Wordpress site!

To embed a Sequel.io Virtual Stage and/or Networking Hub

  1. In your Sequel.io Admin Dashboard, select the Virtual Stage or Networking Hub that you want to embed.

  2. Click the tab Embed Info, and copy the shortcode from the WordPress section.

  3. On your Wordpress page, select the black + sign any where on your site, and then search for the Shortcode element.

    Copy of IPAD (9)

  4. Paste the shortcode you copied from your Sequel Dashboard into the empty shortcode field. We recommend using a full-width page to ensure the component has enough space for the video component and chat.

  5. You can view your embedded component by selecting the Preview button in the top right corner of your page, or by selecting Update and viewing your live page!

    Copy of IPAD (10)

  6. If the height of the component is very small, you can add a Custom CSS class to change the height. To make this change in your theme, navigate back to your Wordpress Admin and select Appearance> Additional CSS within the left-hand menu.

  7. From here, copy and paste this code in the Additional CSS box and Save:

    .introvoke-iframe {
    height: 90vh
    }

Now take a look back at your live page and you can see that the iframe of your Sequel.io Virtual Stage or Networking Hub has expanded!

WordPress Website Templates

After completing the above steps (specifically, step 7) to embed your Virtual Stage and/or Networking Hub on your Wordpress website, you may notice that the width of your iframe may be cut short, including your banner image.

The likely cause of this is due to using a website template that provides a narrow space for website content, resulting in condensing the width of your Virtual Stage. When choosing a website template, it is best to choose one that has a full-width option for content.

Alternatively, you can always create a full-width page template using a Wordpress Plug-in such as this one here.

Lastly — if your template or page allows, stretch the margins of your page to be as wide as possible to allow as much space for your iframe to embed properly!

WordPress User Accounts

The Sequel.io WordPress Plug-in also allows you to skip our native log-in or integration and simply ask your users to log in to their user account through your website! You can also gate which is accessing your events by embedding them on 'Member-Only' pages.
