Sequel.io's Simulive feature allows you to play pre-recorded content as though it was live. This feature is perfect for webinars, online courses, or any event where you want to simulate a live experience. Simulive takes the stress out of your events and allows hosts to focus on engagement.
First, some things to consider in order to ensure Simulive is best fit.
Will you want to end the event with live Q&A?
If so, it is the best experience to play the "simulive" video from the Media tab as a host and go right into the Q&A.
Will you want to bring engagement on stage like polls on stage?
Simulive media being set means that the stage is not available for things like Polls on Stage.
Poll CTAs and Link CTAs are still able to be used with Simulive and Polls can still be presented for attendees to participate in within the Poll tab in a Simulive event.
Setting a Simulive Event
Firstly, create an event in your Sequel.io Admin Dashboard by choosing the "simulive" event type. Add the Title, Start Time, and Banner Image.
Next, upload your media. You can do this via the Media Hub or from files on your computer. If you have an existing Replay that you'd like to use, you can also select it from the Media Hub and link it to your Virtual Stage.
Note: If you'd like to have bumpers and title slides, include these in your mp4 as you can only upload one file for simulive.
Simulive media cannot be uploaded via URL method and must be uploaded as an MP4 in order for successful usage in the event.
Click on "Settings" to configure the rest of your simulive event and you're set!
Sit back and enjoy a flawless simulated live experience. Your audience will interact with your content as if it were happening in real-time and you can moderate the event chat, Q&A, and Polls, the same way you do for live events.
When an event is set as simulive, it will go live automatically and play the media assigned to it. Once the media reaches the end, the event will automatically end — all without a Host!
Note: once a Simulive event has gone live, a Host cannot end the simulive and join the stage to be live.
A few common uses cases for our simulive feature are the following:
You have an external speaker who is unavailable at the day and time you are schedule to host your webinar. Pre-record the session and set it as simulive as if it was live!
You want to reach a global audience that you would not be able to before due to timezones.
Recording in Sequel for a Simulive Event
To make simulive even easier, you can record the content right within Sequel and link from your Media Hub for the actual event.
To do this, click the "Preview" icon within the Simulive event. This will take you to the virtual stage.
When you're ready to record, just click on "Go Live" and anything afterward will be recorded. Do this prior to adding your embed URL and you can be sure no one is seeing the recording! Alternatively, you can use a "Recording Studio" event.
Applying Recording as Simulive Content
Now that your recording has been reviewed and approved, time to set it as your Simulive event asset. To do this,
Navigate to event of choice > Settings > Media tab
If you recorded using this event, the video will already be there. You can click on the "Film" icon next to the video and select "Set as Simulive"
If you recorded elsewhere, click on the "Upload" button within the Simulive box on the left.
Choose "From Media Hub" tab within the pop-up and choose the recording.
That's it! You'll see the media set as Simulive and the event type change to Simulive as well.
