Stage Layout Options
We provide the options to switch between our two layout options:
Speaker View: when selected, the person speaking will automatically be highlighted on the stage above or to the side of the filmstrip video tiles of others present.
Grid View: when selected, all video tiles of those present onstage will share the stage equally.
To select a stage layout, select the layout button within your control center within the Virtual Stage (see below):
Hosts also have the option to pin a speaker on stage. When pinning someone, their video tile will be highlighted onstage regardless of who is speaking. This is a great option for keynote speakers or person of interest for your event! To pin someone to the stage, hover your mouse over their video tile and select the small pin icon in the top right of their video feed (see below):
Can I change the orientation of the stage layout I have selected?
Yes! When selecting the layout button within your control center, you have the option to view your Layout Settings (see below).
Once selected, you have the following options:
Filmstrip Position: when in speaker view, you can change the position of the filmstrip to be at the top, right, or left of the stage. By default, the filmstrip will be at the bottom of the stage. In addition, you have the option to toggle on the Auto-hide filmstrip presentations. This will automatically hide the filmstrip of video tiles when sharing a screen or a video.
The Virtual Stage will remember the way you used it last, including the positioning of the film strip.
Grid View: when in grid view, you can change the tile order to highlight the dominant speakers in order, the most dominant being in the first tile position at the top left. Dominant speakers are determined by their speaking activity on stage i.e. the individual that is most actively speaking, will be the most dominant and their tile will be displayed first.
In addition, you can change the maximum number of video tiles to 4, 9, 16, or 25 (max) on a page at once. For example, if you have this set to 4, and there were 10 people onstage, then you would have 3 pages of video tiles (page 1: 4 video tiles, page 2: 4 video tiles, page three: 2 video tiles).
Will my changes impact what the audience will see?
Yes, only if you are a Host and have control of the stage. When in control of the stage, any changes you make to the stage layout whether it is speaker view, grid view, the position of the filmstrip, etc. will change for the entire audience that is viewing the event.
To take control of the stage as Host, you will simply select the control icon (see below) to the left of the layout icon within your control center.
Only one Host can have control of the stage at a time. If you are in control of the stage, you will see a message indicating that when hovering over this icon. If another Host has control of the stage, this icon (+ the layout icon) will be grayed out and you will see a message indicating the Host that has control (see below).
When no one has control of the stage, Hosts and Presenters can change their stage layout and settings individually and it will not impact the view of the audience.
